The goal of this module is to present information that will prepare the post anesthesia care nurse to maintain stability of the patient’s respiratory system in the immediate post-operative period. After reviewing this module, the learner will be able to: Describe the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system List risk factors of respiratory instability Identify potential postoperative respiratory complications Discuss the pharmacological and non-pharmacological management of respiratory complications
