The goal of this module is to present information that will prepare the post anesthesia care nurse to maintain stability of the patient’s neurological system in the immediate post-operative period. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to: Describe the anatomy and physiology of the neurological system Discuss various neurosurgical procedures and postoperative nursing interventions Review the components of a comprehensive neurological nursing assessment of the unconscious patient Discuss the postoperative care of the neurosurgical patient undergoing spinal surgery and other surgical procedures
