The goal of this module is to provide nurses with information about the hormone producing and secreting glands that make up the endocrine system and regulate the activity of cells or organs including surgical procedures and perioperative considerations when providing nursing care for these patients. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to: Describe the anatomy and physiology of the endocrine system Discuss nursing considerations relating to various endocrine conditions Review the nursing considerations for the postoperative care of the patient with diabetes
