Course overview
This home-study course is designed with physical therapists and exercise teachers in mind as it teaches the beginner and intermediate exercise repertoire of the late Joseph H. Pilates, including many of his original exercises plus many regressions and progressions suitable for PT patients. The follow-up course of PIA Pilates Essentials serves as the pre-requisite for this and all other PIA courses. The Mat 1 Online program teaches beginner and intermediate Pilates Mat exercises from a teacher or therapist's perspective, addressing such things as correct form, biomechanics, and verbal and hands-on corrective cueing. The course is taught in a series of video clips that show the exercises, discuss the right and wrong techniques, and highlight the best ways to teach the sequences. After each video, students can study the details of the exercise in written form and take notes and/or practice as necessary. Students receive enough information to teach a beginner through intermediate client/patient or group of clients/patients Pilates Mat 1 class.
