The Dental Professionals Role in the Opioid Crisis

Course overview

This course seeks to improve understanding of the role dental healthcare providers can play in the prevention of opioid abuse, provides them with tools to critically assess the individualized needs of their patients who may suffer from substance abuse, and resources to allow referral of those patients to resources to help treat their addictions. The course also reviews the current evidence on best practices for analgesic prescribing for acute and post-operative discomfort in a manner than minimizes risks associated with substance misuse for patients.
