Describe the difference between particulate and gamma decay in nuclear medicine (NM) therapy radionuclides 2. Provide an understanding of radiation monitoring when using particulate emitters 3. Describe methods of accurate dose calibration during dispensing 4. Explain the electromagnetic interactions between charged particles and matter 5. Explain the potential dangers to human health while compounding alpha and beta emitting radiopharmaceuticals 6. Outline the principles of ALARA as the basis of radiation protection 7. Identify policies and procedures that would minimize exposure during the compounding process NOTE: An annual subscription for Purdue's nuclear pharmacy re-certification program provides access to both the continuing education component of the program and the "Radiopharmacy Portal" a reference resource for practitioners. Subscriptions to the continuing educational offerings, which have been accredited through ACPE and BPS, can be purchased for an annual fee of $195 for nuclear pharmacists and $95 for nuclear pharmacy technicians.
