At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify common mental health concerns facing active duty military and military veterans.
- Identify factors that put veterans at increased risk for mental health issues.
- Identify warning signs of mental health issues among active-duty military and veterans.
- Describe the impact of mental health issues on veterans and their families.
- Identify mental health treatment options and resources available to veterans.
Course overview
In addition to the mental health issues that we all face, military members face additional concerns by nature of their work. Active-duty military and veterans face rates of mental health concerns, such as depression, PTSD, and suicide above those found in the civilian population. This course aims to provide health care professionals with an understanding of veterans mental health concerns, how they affect their relationships with their families, and an overview of the best practices of screening and treating these individuals. Participants can access course via mobile phone or computer.
