Course overview

This basic-level course details the three major components of managing medical emergencies in the dental office: prevention, recognition, and treatment. Appropriate for all dental professionals, the course discusses the importance of obtaining a thorough medical history for each patient, as well as the need to be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of life-threatening emergencies. The symptoms and treatment for patients with inadequate blood flow to the brain, inadequate delivery of oxygen to the brain, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and allergic reactions are described.
