Course overview

There is a high prevalence of people involved in the justice system who have been diagnosed with or meet the criteria for a substance use disorder. As a treatment professional, you should be aware of where along the criminal justice continuum you may be called to provide treatment services and what the benefits of challenges of working with individuals at each stage may be. This course will discuss challenges of working with justice-involved populations with a substance use disorder, information that you should collect during assessment, evidence-based practices, and practice standards related to information privacy and confidentiality.
