Statement of Learning Need

Clinicians need to know the indications, dosing and dosing adjustments, contraindications and potential side effects of asenapine. Unlike other antipsychotics, clinicians should know that asenapine is administered as a fast-dissolving sublingual tablet twice daily that is non-invasive and has been shown to effectively treat acute agitation in psychiatric emergencies and for maintenance dosing in all age groups. 

Course Purpose 

To inform health clinicians of current published information relative to basic pharmacological profile of asenapine and clinical pearls on topics that were covered in the basic pharmacological profile.

Target Audience

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, and other Interdisciplinary Health Team Members.
