Statement of Learning Need

Since May 2009 iloperidone has been approved by the Food and Drug administration as an atypical antipsychotic drug to treat acute schizophrenia. The efficacy of iloperidone to alleviate both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia remain fairly unfamiliar to many primary care clinicians. Clinicians need to know the indications, dosing and dosing adjustments, contraindications and potential side effects of iloperidone use. 

Course Purpose

To inform health clinicians of current published information relative to basic pharmacological profile of iloperidone and clinical pearls on topics that were covered in the basic pharmacological profile.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Registered Nurses
