The implications of the international epidemic of human trafficking reach beyond social injustice, psychological abuse, emotional abuse and physical abuse into the healthcare spectrum. Healthcare providers must be prepared to competently care for patients and family members of individuals affected by the human trafficking epidemic. This course will outline the current state of human trafficking in the United States, discuss the physical and psychological abuse the victims have suffered and identify interventions and communication techniques to utilize when managing the care of human trafficking victims
