Course overview

Working with Alzheimers Disease (AD) patients and their families requires specialized training, awareness, with a hand-on approach. This course is designed to provide Home Health Aides (HHA) with an appreciation of the significance of their role as caregiver for an Alzheimers patient and supporter of family and loved ones. Participants will learn about other dementias, with a deeper dive into a brain impaired by Alzheimers. The course includes an overview of symptoms and stages of AD along with an understanding of the crucial role an HHA can play in disease management and family communication. Alzheimers Disease can be tragic, there is no cure and requires a focused support group as the disease progresses and ultimately robs the patient of the ability to be self-sufficient. The role of the HHA is significant and this course will teach how to effectively communicate and navigate daily routines for best practice and effective care. With a focus on planning, this course will empower participants to develop awareness pertaining to comprehensive patient care in a manner that is proactive and supportive.
