Course overview

The number of Americans 65 years of age and older is growing at a rapid pace. It is estimated that by 2030, the older adult population will represent almost 20% of the total population of the United States. It is essential that nurses be prepared to provide safe and appropriate care to older adults. This education program provides information on elder abuse; age-related memory changes; and disease processes, including chronic conditions and end-of-life issues. It meets the continuing education requirements mandated by the Texas Board of Nursing as they pertain to care of the older adult.
