Family Based Interventions

Course overview

This course explores several family based interventions for Substance use and video conferencing to deliver it. It highlights evidence-based treatment using family therapy and behavioral interventions to deal with externalizing issues. It includes: considering families in the context of children's telemental healthcare, critical issues in telemental healthcare specific to family-based services, privacy concerns and equipment, reasons for family based therapy, Multi-systemic Therapy (MST), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT), Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT), Ecological Based Family Therapy (EBFT), Family Behavior Therapy (FBT), Culturally Informed & Flexible Family Treatment for Adolescents (CIFFTA), and Strengths Oriented Family Therapy (SOFT).
