Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) has been called the "signature injury" of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM (OIF/OEF), in no small part due to the consequences of improvised explosive devices (e.g., blast overpressure). Of increasing concern is the long term effects of mTBIs, particularly given the prevalence of PTSD and comorbid mTBI/PTSD. This article presents the results of a study whose aim was to determine whether participants with a history of mTBI and current PTSD (mTBI + PTSD) have poorer cognitive and psychological outcomes than participants with mTBI only (mTBI-o), PTSD only (PTSD-o), or veteran controls (VC).
