Glucocorticoid Drugs: Their Benefits and Risks (REL-ACU-0-60238)
Tracking # 20-715072
Course overview
Because of the anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties of glucocorticoids, they are among the most widely prescribed classes of drugs in the world. This module discusses the use of glucocorticoids and three infectious diseases that may occur in patients using these medications for an extended time: pneumocystis pneumonia, nocardiosis, and strongyloidiasis. Glucocorticoid therapy is associated with several toxicities - including immune suppression - that may lead to the development of certain infections. This program informs nurses of the use of glucocorticoids and their adverse effects.
