Even though rates of divorce have been inching downward since 1980, the chance of a marriage in the United States ending in divorce is still around 50%. Divorce is a major life event that can compromise emotional and physical health. The stress of divorce and the associated loss puts some people at risk for mental health conditions. This module provides healthcare providers with information about the psychological dynamics of divorce and the effects on adults and children.
