This certification is to test if the therapist has a good grasp of the information, concepts, theories, and techniques taught in Flexibility 1-3. It will consist of written and practical testing. The written portion will consist of a 25 question Exam, for a total of 100 points possible. The student must earn at least 70 points total in order to pass. These tests are comprehensive of everything that was covered in class. The practical portion will consist of two parts: 1)The therapist demonstrating that they can safely perform all of the active, and active assisted, isolated stretches that were demonstrated and practiced in Flexibility 1-3. The therapist will be tested upon how accurately they perform the requested stretches, monitor the speed of movement, the duration of stretch, the plane of movement, and compensation at other joints. 2)The therapist demonstrating that they can safely perform all of the contract/relax form of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretches that were demonstrated and practiced in Flexibility 2-3. The therapist will be tested upon how accurately they perform the requested stretches, monitor the strength of contraction, the duration of stretch, the plane of movement, and compensation at other joints. The practical portion is pass/fail, based on a 5 point scale from: no clue to excellent. One of the benefits of getting a Certification in Flexibility Training is that it shows to your clients and colleagues that you wish to excel at this powerful form of therapy. Your knowledge and training allows you to add effective myofascial tissue lengthening techniques to your other commonly used modalities when treating painful skeletal muscles. You can use your PNF and Active Isolated stretches as an adjunct to other therapies or as a solo method for pain relief. The high level of skill developed by training to be certified, can be used to help our clients improve their posture, help prevent injuries, and to improve their athletic performance.
