Online DC:0-5 Clinical Training

Course overview

This training is for advanced practitioners such as social workers and mental health clinicians whose work with infants, young children, and their families involves assessment, diagnosis, and case formulation. Training covers the Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood (DC:0-5) which is the first developmentally based system for diagnosing mental health and developmental disorders in infants and toddlers. Topics include: -Definitions of key concepts in infant and early childhood mental health as they relate to diagnostic formulation and approaches. -A review of the multi-axial framework -Approaches to infant and early childhood assessment and diagnosis (developmentally appropriate, relational and family-focused, contextually grounded, culturally competent, and strengths-based). This training includes a review of: Clinical Disorders, Relational Context, Physical Health Conditions and Considerations, Psychosocial Stressors, and Developmental Competence, as well as understanding DC:0-5 in relation to other classification systems such as ICD-10 and DSM-5.
