Course overview

In this course, Patient Engagement and Retention, Bob Tyler draws from the work of Dr. David Mee-Lee, Project Match Research Group, and from Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques, and highlights the importance of building therapeutic alliance with patients and skills to develop such. Participants are provided specific tools, strategies, and interventions to increase patient engagement and retention (completion rates). Course Objectives: Develop skills to build therapeutic alliance with patients. Identify specific treatment strategies and design to improve patient engagement and subsequent retention. Learn the value of providing patient-centered, rather than program-centered, treatment in improving patient engagement. Develop strategies to measure patient engagement and retention that can be incorporated into quality assurance program.
