This intermediate level course provides a comprehensive presentation of the equipment and techniques used for airway suctioning for respiratory therapists. The indications, contraindications, hazards and complications of suctioning are discussed. Patient assessments before and after the procedure is also presented. A detailed coverage is provided for the suctioning equipment, types of suction catheters, suctioning procedure, open suctioning and closed suctioning.
