Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment

Course overview

This course is designed to instruct healthcare personnel on how to provide a comprehensive assessment of the geriatric patient. Step-by-step guidance is offered on how to take a patient's health history, perform a functional assessment and conduct a complete physical exam. The steps necessary to assess mental status and take an inventory of medications are also included. LEARNING OUTCOMES: Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: - Explain the importance of performing an accurate and thorough assessment of the geriatric patient - Take a health history and perform a functional assessment - Perform a comprehensive, "head-to-toe" physical assessment of the patient - Assess the mental status of the geriatric patient - Take an inventory of medications that the patient is currently taking
