Course overview

Motivational Interviewing is an empirically supported clinical practice used to address ambivalence with clients who are in the process of change. This 6 hour training will introduce participants to an overview of motivation interviewing and the populations and symptoms that have it has been demonstrated to be effective with. An introduction to the basic underlying assumptions and principles, as well as the specific skills associated with motivational interviewing, will be presented using a variety of learning modalities. Opportunities to practice the skills of MI will be woven throughout the training.
