What is the relationship between the food we eat and hair growth? The discussion begins with an overview of the role nutrition plays in hormone production and hair growth at various life stages. Hormonal conditions and nutrition interventions to be addressed include PCOS, ovarian/adrenal tumors, Cushing disease, and insulin resistance/type 2 diabetes mellitus. Medications with hair growth side effects and nutritional implications will also be reviewed. An overview of dietary and supplemental interventions towards preventing and treating hirsutism will be discussed. Finally, the lecture will conclude with general nutrition information examining key nutrients for our body and the role of nutrition in weight loss and preventing illness while providing the truth to common nutrition myths.
