Treating Hypothermia in the Trauma Patient

Course overview

Trauma patients are at increased risk for hypothermia, which in turn increases their mortality risk. Nurses caring for these patients must be well-informed about hypothermia so that they may intervene appropriately. This module will explore the risk factors and effects of hypothermia on the traumatically injured patient and examine the nurses role in recognizing, preventing, and treating this potentially deadly condition.
