Course overview

This literature review course is based on the article "Frontal Plane Movement of the Pelvis and Thorax During Dynamic Activities in Individuals With and Without Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury" by Jennifer L. Davies et al. The authors are physiotherapists and human movement researchers at Cardiff University in Wales. Reducing pelvis and trunk obliquities is a common goal of rehabilitation for elite athletes who have undergone ACL reconstruction. The authors' study aimed to quantify these frontal plane movements in individuals in the general population to help address the question of whether a similar goal is appropriate in rehabilitation with individuals who are not elite athletes. This course presents and expands on their article to increase the depth of knowledge of all physical therapy professionals who are interested in learning more about treating individuals who have sustained an ACL injury.
