Pediatric Dysphagia: Helping Children Eat Safely, Comfortably, and Happily!

Course overview

The prevalence of infants and children with oral and pharyngeal dysphagia is increasing steadily as more infants are born prematurely, more children are diagnosed with Autism, and clinicians and physicians become increasingly aware of the need for intervention. Clinicians, unfortunately, are often unprepared to treat pediatric dysphagia, particularly in the context of complicated medical, behavioral, and nutritional needs. This course will provide clinicians with the knowledge and skills they need to perform a thorough diagnostic evaluation as well as tools and techniques to treat not only the feeding and swallowing issues in their clients but the underlying contributing factors as well. Participants will leave this course armed with competencies in assessment of pediatric dysphagia and development of effective treatment plans that are based in the most up-do-date evidence.
