This Introductory Guide for First Responders is essential to those who may be among the first to arrive at an incident of suspicious origin. It is intended to be a general introduction to the basic concepts for first responder awareness at the scene of a potential terrorist incident. After successfully completing this course, learners will be able to: 1) Explain the need for an Incident Command System (ICS) 2) List the steps or processes traditionally associated with responding to an emergency 3) Describe the additional considerations emergency responders must address when an incident involves hazardous materials 4) Appreciate the issues and processes required to work with contaminated victims
