Focuses on the pharmacotherapy of acute ischemic stroke, including laboratory measures and diagnostic tests needed to diagnose and classify a cerebrovascular accident (CVA), how to categorize patients as candidates for administration of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) based on indications and contraindications, management and strategy for blood pressure control in the setting of stroke, and when given a therapeutic case, how to develop an appropriate acute supportive care plan for a patient, and what to recommend for secondary prevention to implement including agent, dose, and duration of therapy.
