Course overview

Productivity determines how much labor a laboratory should be using, but gets a director no closer to a staffing model with labor distribution mirroring volume distribution. This session will provide a brief reminder on productivity, but will spend the majority of the session calculating employee distribution moving to an ideal labor distribution, moving to a staffing grid, and ending with a brief discussion on position control. Elements to be discussed will include labor types, functions, typical lab labor expectations, creative scheduling, etc. Correct implementation of this will reduce burnout, improve both efficiency and patient care, and assist with employee retention.
