Course overview
This educational activity will explore mental health concerns that are common in older adults. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have identified mental health wellness as one component of quality of life for the older adult living in a nursing home. Staff working with residents who have mental health issues are expected to have competencies to deal with this population, which includes knowledge related to the resident's diagnosed conditions. This educational activity is appropriate for all staff who interact with residents who face mental health concerns and are not involved with medication administration.
