Course overview

This 1-hour credit course is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy. Youth onset of Type 2 diabetes impacts 20,000 to 25,000 children annually. Additionally, children impacted by Type 2 diabetes and obesity have a higher propensity to carry similar health-related problems into adulthood. This one-hour course provides and overview of the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes among youth, risk factors, complications, and proactive prevention. In addition, it highlights the various ways pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can assist their younger patients in preventing or managing Type 2 diabetes. This is a self-directed course that participants can complete from the convenience of their computer or mobile device.
