SPLENECTOMY IS MAINLY PERFORMED FOR HEMATOLOGICAL DISORDERS ALONG WITH TRAUMATIC INJURIES. SPLENECTOMY CAN BE PERFORMED VIA THE OPEN TRADITIONAL LAPAROTOMY APPROACH OR LAPAROSCOPIC OR ROBOTIC-ASSISTED APPROACH. THIS ACTIVITY REVIEWS THE INDICATIONS, CONTRAINDICATIONS, AND TECHNIQUES OF PERFORMING A SPLENECTOMY AND HIGHLIGHTS THE ROLE OF THE INTERPROFESSIONAL TEAM IN MANAGING PATIENTS WHO UNDERGO SPLENECTOMY.
