RABIES IS ONE OF THE OLDEST KNOWN DISEASES IN HISTORY WITH CASES DATING BACK TO 4000 YEARS AGO. FOR MOST OF HUMAN HISTORY, A BITE FROM A RABID ANIMAL WAS UNIFORMLY FATAL.
