ACUTE CHOLECYSTITIS IS INFLAMMATION OF THE GALLBLADDER THAT OCCURS DUE TO OCCLUSION OF THE CYSTIC DUCT OR IMPAIRED EMPTYING OF THE GALLBLADDER. OFTEN THIS IMPAIRED EMPTYING IS DUE TO STONES OR BILIARY SLUDGE. THIS ACTIVITY REVIEWS THE EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT OF ACUTE CHOLECYSTITIS AND REVIEWS THE ROLE OF THE INTERPROFESSIONAL TEAM ON CARING FOR PATIENTS WITH THIS CONDITION.
