Course overview

The majority of the client populations that we serve have experienced trauma and have been severely impacted by these experiences. Neglecting to address the impact of the work we do can have on our physical and emotional wellbeing undermines not only the quality of our work with our clients but it can also erode our passion for our chosen profession and lead to compassion fatigue. Frequently direct service staff neglect to counsel themselves about self-care or heed the signs and symptoms of the hazards associated with compassion fatigue. Learning and utilizing the practice of self-compassion in your role as a supervisor can both prevent and heal the symptoms of compassion fatigue and build resiliency in direct service staff.
