Course overview
This course focuses on identifying and understanding the muscle imbalances of torticollis and related aspects of cranial asymmetries of plagiocephaly. Torticollis is identified by the posture of the head and neck from a unilateral shortening of the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) causing the head to tilt in one direction and rotate in the opposing direction. This asymmetry positioning can cause increased dependence and pressure on the growing skull and cause flattening. This course aims to establish baseline knowledge for identifying torticollis and plagiocephaly and provide early treatment ideas for the therapist and family.
