Hearing Loss in Children, The Elderly, and Veterans

Course overview

This course will focus specifically on hearing loss in children, the elderly, and veterans. Following a brief review of hearing loss, we will present hearing loss in children, how to screen for newborns, and ways to assist children with hearing loss. This discussion will include devices and alternative communication processes. Hearing loss in the elderly is presented as well as the connection to decreased cognitive abilities and even dementia. Veterans are exposed to hearing loss in a number of ways. We discuss the processes and programs available to veterans so they can get assistance they need including disability payments.
