This course provides an in-depth look at the entire perianesthetic period, from anesthesia planning and patient stabilization, premedication and induction, to the maintenance and recovery of veterinary anesthesia patients. A review of cardiopulmonary physiology and how it is affected by anesthetic agents and adjuncts will be presented. Best-practice monitoring procedures and managing common anesthesia-related complications will be discussed. The course also includes a detailed look at pain physiology and how best to provide ideal perioperative analgesia to veterinary patients. While this course focuses on the care of dogs and cats, the principles described are applicable across most companion animals.
