Discussion of head injury and executive function deficits, including evidence that suggests head injury is a lifelong and chronic disorder, executive function needed for participation in everyday life, and treatment strategies such as habit formation and scripting used to improve executive function deficits commonly found with head-injured clients. Topics covered include: brain injury as a chronic disorder, causes of mortality, and long-term risk of epilepsy; brain tumors, including long-term follow-up studies, suggestive evidence of association, positive association, and causal relationship; executive functions, including definition, harm to everyday function, and theory of how executive functions work in the brain; treatment strategies for executive function, including remedial approaches, compensatory approaches, and which type of treatment you should use; habit formation, including all stages - cue, routine, and reward; and a discussion of scripting, including what it is and different types.
