Course overview
Chapter 1 Variation, Errors, and Quality in the Clinical Laboratory provides an overview of errors that occur in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical processes of lab testing, types of errors, statistics, root causes, and a discussion of recommended measures to correct errors and ensure quality in the laboratory. Chapter 3 Sample Processing and Specimen Misidentification Issues: Major Sources of Pre-analytical Errors addresses major and more commonly occurring sources of error that affect not just the pre-analytic process but the post-analytic as well (i.e., specimen misidentification) as well as regulatory measures and other actionable measures to detect and prevent these issues.
