Anxiety is a powerful force that negatively impacts millions of adults as well as a growing number o school-aged Children. Understanding the brain's survival and relationship functions can inform more effective and helpful practices in supporting our youth and reducing anxiety's detrimental impact. This two-part series will provide a primer on anxiety and the roles that the mid, brain and body play in creating, maintaining and alleviating anxiety. Session one-understanding anxiety, distinguishing the nature, causes and symptoms of anxiety. Session two reducing anxiety through skillful practice in the classroom - responding in conjunction with the mind and body to change the anxious brain.
