Course overview

This course is for those who work, or plan to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or who assist or plan to assist babies and their families in their transition from hospital to home. Attendees will learn: -specific contraindications and medical concerns of the premature or ill newborn -the benefits of touch/infant massage and early bonding -evidence-based research -to help parents with observing, communicating, and bonding with their infants through nurturing touch -to work with other hospital staff, parents of the NICU, protocol and specific adaptations for babies born early or with medical conditions -to identify the different behavioral states and cues -transitions for special needs, downs syndrome, hearing, and visual impairments -to help parents transition home and teach them additional infant massage techniques
