Discussion of pediatric orthopedic splinting and casting, including which orthopedic injury gets which type of splint, the hazards of improper splinting technique and how to avoid them, and application of an upper extremity splint and a lower extremity splint. Discusses the purpose of splinting; explains pre-splinting requirements; discusses selecting the appropriate splint based on the type of splinting material, where the splint is to be placed, and the type of injury; demonstrates hands-on splinting for upper and lower extremities.
