Course overview

Stacy Knox, LPC will interview Cathie Quillet, who is an adoptive parent of 2 children as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, owner of Nashville Reproductive Therapy and founder of www.themissingpeaceproject.com. The program title is "How to Serve the Infertile Couple." The focus of the training is to increase participants' level of understanding of the emotional, psychological and relational impacts of infertility on couples so that we as professionals can support them well through the adoption process. The content of this program directly relates to Methods of Intervention and Prevention, Service Delivery for Counselors and Social Work Practices for Special Populations for Social Workers. By increasing our understanding of infertility as a significant trauma, counselors and social workers can recognize triggers and empathize with hopeful adoptive parents' emotional reactions through the adoption process.
