Dual Relationships: Boundaries

Course overview

This class will explore the concept of boundaries in professional healthcare and how those boundaries are violated in dual relationships. We discuss the particular dilemmas regarding boundaries, as well as the inevitability of dual relationships under certain circumstances. The ethical difficulties around managing dual relationships are presented, as well as an ethical framework for students to use in their various work environments. We introduce several cases studies for students to discuss.
