Course overview

Falls are the leading cause of death, injury and hospital admissions among the elderly population. According to the National Council on Aging (NCOA), one out of every four Americans aged 65 and older falls every year. This course will assist clinicians in the proper assessment, development of plan of care and treatment of conditions that contribute to a patient's risk for falls. A discussion and review of assessment tools that could be utilized are included, as well as, possible treatment interventions to address underlying deficits. The clinician will also be taught the importance of a patient-centered, team approach for the best possible outcome.
