Course overview

Current research demonstrates the importance of the fascial system to movement and function. More clinicians are including gentle fascial therapy to achieve measurable outcomes for their patients. In this course, you will learn to assess pain and mobility impairments related to restrictions of the myofascial and craniosacral systems. Understand the anatomy and function of the fascial and craniosacral system. Evaluate and treat the three-dimensional fascial planes of the cranial and myofascial systems, using gentle fascial mobilization to release abnormal tension. Video demonstrations guide you through appropriate hand positions for releasing the transverse fascial planes, upper and lower extremities, and the craniosacral system including sacral, frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital and mandibular releases. Learn to apply compression and distraction interventions to facilitate motion of the extremities, joints, cranial base, thoracic outlet, pelvic floor and respiratory diaphragm. Assess fascial strain patterns using general and local listening and balance testing to identify and treat primary fascial tension patterns. Relieve pain and tension and promote fascial mobility using direct and indirect techniques for improved mobility, balanced posture and function. Explore how to use gentle techniques to facilitate a change, rather than imposing movement upon the system. A review of evidence-based research indicates how fascial therapy is used to promote measurable functional outcomes.
