Opioid Use: Case Studies
Tracking # 20-854899
Course overview
In the U.S., the use and abuse of opioids has become an epidemic, costing the nation billions of dollars every year. While opioids can be a safe and effective method of pain management, they can also be highly addictive. The issue is compounded when providers prescribe opioids to patients who are at high risk of opioid misuse or abuse without exploring other options first. As a healthcare provider, you play a critical role in addressing the opioid epidemic. In this module, three cases will be explored relating to the use of opioids. The goal of this course is to use case studies to educate physicians, physician assistants, and nurses about opioid use in the U.S. and the impact on patient outcomes.
